Julius August Füesslin (born August 7, 1815 in Freiburg im Breisgau ; † May 21, 1866 ) was a German doctor.

Life

Füesslin studied medicine at the Universities of Heidelberg and Freiburg. In 1835 he became a member of the Corps Suevia Heidelberg . After his state examination, he served a time as a senior surgeon in the 2nd Baden Infantry Regiment. In 1849 Füesslin became the family doctor of the newly built men's prison in Bruchsal and, based on the practice he had gained there, published his view of a progressive penal system in Baden. The controversy that this sparked caused him to give up this position. In 1858 he was awarded the title senior medical health officer in Baden-Baden . In Baden-Baden he was made an honorary citizen in 1866 because of his services to the city's bathing system.
