Julius Focke
Julius Focke (born June 29, 1872 in Bremen ; † August 12, 1937 in Bremen) was a German merchant and art lover.
Life
Focke was the son of the medical advisor Wilhelm Olbers Focke and nephew of the museum's founder Johann Focke . He learned the trade of a businessman at Arens, Hellmers & Co. in Bremen and as such worked for Lauts & Haesloop in China for two decades . He returned to Bremen before the First World War began . He was then accounting officer of the Central Aid Committee of the Red Cross . He also worked for the Imperial Navy Ministry. After 1919 he worked for the colonial and trading company Mercator Oloff and then took over the company Kohlenimporte S. de Jonge . He was a lover of art and culture as well as a patron of Bremen's museums and lived in Osterdeich No. 41 in Bremen.
