Julius Günther (painter)
Julius Wilhelm Günther (born October 3, 1830 in Halle an der Saale , † January 19, 1902 in Arnstadt , Principality of Schwarzburg-Sondershausen ) was a German genre painter from the Düsseldorf School .
Life
Günther studied painting at the art academies in Berlin , Antwerp , Düsseldorf and Weimar . In 1854 he was taught at the Düsseldorf Academy by Heinrich Mücke , Theodor Hildebrandt and Rudolf Wiegmann . He lived in Berlin for many years , and from the mid-1890s back in his native Halle. Günther painted cozy genre scenes with titles like Topfgucker , Be good again and I'm bad .
