Julius Grimm (politician)

Julius Grimm (born November 26, 1821 in Kassel , † August 3, 1911 in Wiesbaden ) was a German lawyer and politician .

Life

Grimm went to a high school in Kassel and then studied law in Bonn , Marburg and Heidelberg . During his studies he became a member of the Fridericia Bonn fraternity in 1844 and of the Frankonia fraternity in Bonn in 1845 . In 1848 he was promoted to Dr. iur. PhD . In 1851 he became an associate professor of law in Bonn, then from 1853 to 1857 a full professor in Basel . He then worked as in-house counsel and general secretary of the Austrian Southern Railway Company until 1868 . He was a co-founder of the National Liberal Party in Hessen-Nassau , was a member of its central board from 1893 and later became its honorary member. In 1882 he was involved in the founding of the German Colonial Association and was a member of the Prussian House of Representatives from 1889 to 1893 .

His brother was a member of the Reichstag, Karl Grimm . His son was the writer Hans Grimm .
