Julius Pohlig junior, born: Julius Hermann August Pohlig (born July 9, 1870 in Siegen , † April 20, 1942 in Cologne-Lindenthal ) was a German entrepreneur .

Life

Julius Pohlig junior, son of the entrepreneur Julius Pohlig , studied mechanical engineering at the Technical University of Karlsruhe like his father and became a member of the Corps Cheruskia Karlsruhe . After completing his studies, he went to North America as an engineer for a year and a half and then to Belgium for a year before joining his father's company, J. Pohlig AG in Cologne-Zollstock. In 1900 he became an authorized signatory and, after his father left the operative business, in 1903 director and board member .

The J. Pohlig AG was a machine factory for the production and assembly of transport equipment. This included cable cars for transporting coal and ore as well as loading and unloading facilities. However, the 1912 under the aegis of Julius Pohlig jun. Cable car built for passenger transport up to the Sugar Loaf in Rio de Janeiro .

1962 arose from the J. Pohlig AG by merger initially Pohlig-Heckel-Bleichert United Maschinenfabriken AG (PHB), which in turn in 1980 with the Weserhütte for PHB Weserhütte AG was incorporated (PWH).

Pohlig was widowed by Maria Martha Emmy Schulze, whom he married in Bonn in 1917. He died of stomach cancer at the age of 71 in his apartment in Cologne-Lindenthal.
