Julius Robert

Julius Robert (born June 4, 1826 in Himberg , Lower Austria ; † February 9, 1888 in Groß Seelowitz , Moravia ) was an Austrian chemist and industrialist.

Live and act

Julius Robert was a son of the sugar factory owner Florentin Robert (1795-1870). A diffusion process for extracting juice from sugar beet during sugar production was introduced by him in 1865 . He ran a model estate in Moravia, where he first used the steam plow in 1871 .

With his uncle Ludwig (from 1855: Ludwig von Robert ; 1792–1860) and his son Paul von Robert († 1881, age: 39) he was connected in particular through the wholesale house Robert & Comp. economic interests.

Julius Robert was the father-in-law of the plant breeder and economist Emanuel Proskowetz Ritter von Proskow and Marstorff the Elder  . J. (1849–1944), 1873–76 head of Robert's estate in Groß Seelowitz.
