Julius Winter

Julius Winter (born May 29, 1899 ; † 1995 in Twixlum ) was a German lawyer and insurance company.

Life

Winter studied law at the Georg August University . In 1919 he became a member of the Corps Teutonia Göttingen and Guestphalia Würzburg and in 1950 also of the two fusion corps Makaria-Guestphalia and Teutonia-Hercynia. In 1921 he was promoted to Dr. iur. PhD . He came to Göttingen from Gotha after the Second World War as head of the Gothaer sales force (insurance) . Chairman of the Executive Board since 1957 , he played a key role in the rebuilding of Gothaer Leben and Gothaer Allgemeine . In 1967 he left the company as chairman of the supervisory board . Julius Winter was culturally and artistically engaged, was interested in the peace-making element of art, and as a collector he also maintained friendly contacts and others. a. to Pablo Picasso , Henry Moore , Constantin Brancusi . Julius Winter had three children. The eldest son Gerrit Winter studied law in Göttingen and Oxford . He became professor for insurance law at the University of Hamburg and director of the seminar for insurance science. His daughter studied human medicine, the youngest son studied physics and also switched to the insurance industry, including 25 years as CEO of various insurance companies.
