Julius of Queis

Julius von Queis (born January 22, 1839 in Wossau , † May 14, 1909 in Allenstein ) was the owner of the manor and a member of the German Reichstag .

origin

His parents were the district administrator Ehrhard von Queis (* February 11, 1804; † August 13, 1867) and his wife Emilie Juliane von Wienskowski called Saltzwedel (* July 18, 1811).

Life

Queis attended high schools and the university. In 1857 he became a soldier and participated in the wars of 1866 and 1870/71 . In 1879 he became a major and in 1884 he took his leave as a major at the rifle examination commission to manage his Malschöwen estate . He was a member of the Provincial Parliament of the Province of East Prussia and the Chamber of Agriculture.

From 1898 to 1903 he was a member of the German Reichstag for the Reichstag constituency of Gumbinnen 7 and the German Conservative Party . Between 1904 and 1908 he was also a member of the Prussian House of Representatives .

family

Queis married the baroness Agnes Sybilla Cöleste Schenk von Tautenburg (born March 5, 1852) from the Doben family on December 29, 1869 . The couple had a daughter: Emilie Colestine Elisabeth Agnes Marie (born November 30, 1870), who married Rittmeister Erich von der Goltz on June 27, 1891 . His son Julius (born November 28, 1872) was station manager of Rio del Rey in Cameroon , fell in August 1899.
