Three "jumpers"

Jumpstyle ( English jump "jump" and style "style") is an electronic music style and an associated dance style .

music

Jumpstyle describes a style of electronic dance music that is kept relatively minimal in arrangement and melody - similar to the new style that developed in Chicago . 140–160 BPM and often offbeats (see Hardstyle ) are characteristic of many jumpstyle tracks . Many tracks also contain hardcore techno - beats , but are not absolutely necessary in order to classify them as "Jump Style".

Today's Jumpstyle describes its own scene and is particularly successful in the Netherlands, Austria, Belgium, France, Italy, Poland and Germany.

Dance style and choreography

You dance individually or in groups by throwing your legs forwards and backwards or kicking them in rhythm while jumping. Twists are often included. Usually there is dancing with several people, whereby the dancers either perform the same steps next to one another in the so-called “duo jump” or stand opposite each other in the “duo kick” and can bump their feet synchronously while “jumping”. Touching the other dancers through careless dance steps is frowned upon, with the exception of the “duo kick”. The duo or group jump (synchronous, choreographed dancing in a larger group) is the most difficult type of dance. However, it is also possible to dance “freestyle” in a group, with no choreography or sequence of steps being given.

Commercialization

The style became popular through the Internet, as many "jumpers" published their videos on video portals and on their own websites. Instructions for beginners and amateurs are also published here, most of which clearly explain a uniform sequence of steps for "jumping", but also special turns and other techniques. The most famous jump duo is Patrick Jumpen . Patrick Mantinezz, the founder of Patrick Jumpen, is the winner of the " jumping is not a crime " competition and other jump competitions. Patrick Jumpen also produce their own Jumpstyle music and have shot a DVD about Jumpstyle that went gold.

Since the widespread use of Jumpstyle at that time, a clear commercialization of the musical style has been evident (see Hands up ), which has already been observed in other areas of electronic music in the past. The striking dance style is danced by many to other music genres. This could also be observed more and more frequently in city centers and other places outside the discotheque . Jump meetings were even planned and organized. The largest meeting in Germany so far, the Jumpsession Bremen Vol. 6 with a number of 321 jumpers, took place on March 7, 2009 in Bremen. By far the largest meeting in the world was held in Biddinghuizen , where almost 8,000 jumpers gathered. On February 9, 2008, the first official German championship in jump style took place in Georgsmarienhütte , where more than 160 participants competed against each other in the solo, duo and group categories.
