Jungermannia gracillima is a species of moss from the order of the Jungermanniales .
features
The stems are three to five millimeters long and have many small-leaved branches. They form extensive green to red-brown ruffles. The flank leaves are circular and halfway around the stem. The leaf margin is formed by a series of large, coarse-walled cells. In the middle of the leaf, the cells are 30 × 40 to 45 micrometers in size. Their corners are not or only slightly thickened. There are no sub-leaves in the species. There are two to three oil bodies per cell . The female bracts are larger than the flank leaves. The perianth is egg-shaped and has five edges at the top. The perigynium is short. The capsule is short oval and brown.
Distribution and locations
The species is common in the northern hemisphere. In Germany it occurs widespread, in higher altitudes it is rather rare. It grows in bare, sandy to loamy, rather moist locations. She avoids lime.
