Jungermannia is the eponymous genus of moss of the order Jungermanniales . The genus is named after the German botanist Ludwig Jungermann .
features
The plants have spread, rounded flank leaves, sub-leaves mostly missing. Each cell contains several oil bodies , rarely just one. a perianth is present. The spores are 10 to 22 micrometers in size.
Systematics
The earlier genera Plectocolea and Solenostoma , which were previously listed as separate genera due to their different perianth structure, are also incorporated into the genus Jungermannia .
The genus includes around 125 species. Of the 18 European species, the following occur in Germany:
