Junior Collins

Addison "Junior" Collins (* 17th April 1927 in Pine Bluff , Arkansas ; † 1976 in Dublin , Hampshire ; actually Addison Collins Jr. ) was an American jazz - horn player of swing and modern jazz .

Collins played in the 1940s in the Army Airforce Band of Glenn Miller (recordings with solos 1943) and under his successor Tex Beneke , the Benny Goodman Orchestra (recordings 1946) and in the orchestra of Claude Thornhill (recordings 1949). In 1949, he was like some other members of Thornhill Orchestra at the legendary recordings of Birth of the Cool by Miles Davis involved, as well to the live performances of the band in 1948 in the Royal Roost . In 1953 he was also involved in the recordings Charlie Parker of Gil Evans -Arrangements with Dave Lambert Singers .
