Junior Raglin
Junior Raglin , actually Alvin Raglin , (* 16th March 1917 in Omaha , Nebraska ; † 10. November 1955 in Boston ) was an American jazz - bassist .
Junior Raglin played guitar at the age of three and later bass. He worked early in his short career in the jazz band Eugene Coys from 1938 to 1941. In November of that year he replaced the on tuberculosis diseased Jimmy Blanton in the Duke Ellington Orchestra from. Before Blanton went to the hospital, he'd worked with him in tandem for a few evenings to get a feel for the band. Raglin played for Ellington from 1941 to November 1945 , then only sporadically (as in a duo with Art Tatum 1945 and Edmond Hall 's Swingtet in 1946) and then withdrew from the jazz scene.
