LithTech
LithTech is a 3D engine for computer games developed by Monolith Productions in collaboration with Microsoft . Monolith later formed a separate company, LithTech Inc., to further improve the engine's technology. Today the former LithTech Inc. is better known as Touchdown Entertainment. A large number of game developers, including Monolith itself, have since used the advanced engine mainly for first person shooters . Competitors in this segment are, for example, the Quake or Unreal engine. The LithTech Engine is still being developed today and is known in the latest version from 2005 as Jupiter Extended or Jupiter EX.

LithTech Triton
A separate version of the 'Jupiter' engine called 'LithTech Triton' was specially designed for the title TRON 2.0 . Triton combined the expanded rendering possibilities of Jupiter with additional special effects and other innovations, such as the third person perspective and a new physics system for vehicles. This was especially used in the Light Cycles races and improved the multiplayer aspect of the title. These extensions found their way into later versions of the Jupiter and Jupiter Extended (EX) engine.

LithTech Jupiter Extended (EX)
The Jupiter Extended (EX) engine was created by Monolith for the action shooter FEAR . The engine supports so-called per-pixel lighting , which means that light and shadow effects can be displayed extremely realistically. The engine also works with DirectX 9 and DirectX 8 effects. Compatibility with older systems is therefore given. The engine is trimmed to Pixel-Shader 2.0, but also works well with version 1.3, although there are some graphics errors.
