Juraj Šimurka (born May 10, 1961 in Trenčín ) is a former Slovak football player and current football coach .
Player career
Šimurka played in his youth for Jednota Trenčín , in 1979 he moved to ZŤS Petržalka , with whom he was promoted to the 1st Czechoslovakian league in 1981. A year later, the goalkeeper moved to Slavia Prague . At first he was number one, later he was just a replacement. From 1986 to 1987 Šimurka did his military service with Dukla Tábor, then he returned to Slavia and shared the time in goal with Milan Veselý .
The goalkeeper moved to FC Zbrojovka Brno in the second division in 1988 and was able to celebrate promotion to the top division. In early 1990, Šimurka went to Sklo Union Teplice , after six months he changed clubs again and joined the second division side Spartak Trnava , whom he helped to move up to the first division. He went to the second division to SH Senica, in early 1992 he moved to FC Bohemians Prague , where he was number one for two and a half years. His last post was Viktoria Žižkov from 1994 to 1998 .
Coaching career
Šimurka began his coaching activity as an assistant to Viktoria Žižkov in the 1998/99 season. In the following season he was coach of the Prague third division Sparta Krč , from 2000 to 2003 he worked for the second division SC Xaverov Horní Počernice . In the 2003/04 season he was in charge of the Slovak club MŠK Žilina , from July 2004 to April 2005 Šimurka sat in the coaching bench at SK Hradec Králové . From June 2006 to early May 2008 he was again coach at Sparta Krč, with whom he was promoted to the 2nd division in May 2007 .
In the 2008/09 season, Šimurka was sports director at Sparta Krč, and in the 2009/10 season he was assistant coach at Viktoria Žižkov.
