Yuri Alexandrowitsch Wolkow ( Russian Юрий Александрович Волков ; born April 18, 1937 in Moscow , Russian SFSR ; † May 17, 2016 ibid) was a Soviet ice hockey player and coach.
Career
In 1955 Volkov began his professional career with Krylya Sowetow Moscow . In 1956 he moved to HK Lokomotiv Moscow . From 1960 to 1967 the center played for city rivals HK Dynamo Moscow .
For the Soviet national ice hockey team , he played ten games at the ice hockey world championships in 1963 and 1965 , scored six goals and won gold medals with his team.
In 1963 he was named an Honored Master of Sport .
After finishing his sports career he worked as an assistant coach at Dynamo Moscow (1967 to 1970) and at SC Dynamo Berlin (June 1, 1970 to December 22, 1972). He then worked for MGS Dynamo from 1972 to 1973 and was an employee of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the USSR and Russia from 1973 to 1997.
