Yuri Semjonowitsch Konovalov
Yuri Semjonowitsch Konovalov ( Russian Юрий Семёнович Коновалов , English transcription Yuriy Konovalov ; born December 30, 1929 in Baku , † May 25, 2008 in Smolensk ) was a Soviet sprinter who had his greatest successes in the 4-by-100-meter Season had.
With the Soviet team he won the silver medal at the Olympic Games in Melbourne in 1956 and in Rome in 1960 . As a single starter, he reached the semi-finals over 100 m in 1956 and was eliminated over 200 m in the preliminary run. In 1960 he reached the quarterfinals over both distances.
At the European Athletics Championships in Stockholm in 1958 , he won bronze with the Soviet relay.
