Justino Zavala Muniz

Justino Zavala Muniz (born July 18, 1898 in Melo , † March 23, 1968 in Montevideo ) was a Uruguayan writer and politician .

Biography (excerpt)

From March 14, 1926 to March 31, 1933 he was an elected member of the Partido Colorado . During the Terra dictatorship in 1935 he lived in exile in Brazil. He then held a seat as senator from February 10, 1943 to December 22, 1947. He finally took over the ministerial post for education and social affairs in 1952. He later belonged to the Consejo Nacional de Gobierno between 1955 and 1959 . He was involved in founding and later managing the Comedia Nacional . He also founded the "Escuela Municipal de Arte Dramático", the "Escuela Municipal de Música", and the museum and library of the Teatro Solís .
