Jutta Fischer (archaeologist)

Jutta Fischer (* 1952 ) is a German classical archaeologist .

Jutta Fischer studied from 1973 to 1975 classical archeology, prehistory and early history as well as ancient history at the University of Munich and from 1975 to 1981 at the Free University of Berlin . In Berlin in 1981 was carried out Adolf Borbein the Promotion Dr. phil. with the dissertation The pre-Roman sculptures of Nesactium . In 1982/83 Fischer received a travel grant from the German Archaeological Institute . This was followed by a traineeship at the Württemberg State Museum in Stuttgart until 1986 , after which she was a research assistant there until 1988 . In 1989, Fischer moved to the Archaeological Institute of the University of Tübingen as a research assistant . In 1993 she worked again at the Württemberg State Museum. Since 1994 she has been the curator of the archaeological study collection at the Institute for Classical Studies at the University of Greifswald . After the closure of Classical Studies in Greifswald Fischer since 2008, succeeding Lawrence Winkler Horacek on Heinrich Schliemann Institute of Archeology of the University of Rostock Curator of the Archaeological Collection of the University of Rostock . In 2015, Fischer was awarded the sponsorship award for teaching by the Society of Sponsors of the University of Rostock. Fischer retired in 2017, and Christian Russenberger became his successor as curator .

Fischer mainly deals with the Ptolemaic art of Egypt and the Greek coroplasty .
