Jutta von Holte († 1327 ) was an abbess in Nottuln Abbey .

Life

Origin and family

Jutta von Holte was born the daughter of nobleman Hermann von Holte and his wife Sophia von Ravensberg, daughter of Count Ludwig von Ravensberg . Her brother Ludwig was a pastor in Lüdinghausen and belonged to the Münster cathedral chapter . Her sister Gertrud was married to the nobleman Hermann II von Lohn . Her uncle Wigbold was Archbishop of Cologne, Wilhelm Bishop of Munster.

Career and work

On September 11, 1271, the knight Heinrich von Rechede transferred goods for the clothing office to the prioress Jutta. She took over the office of abbess from Mechtild von Isenburg and was first mentioned on November 12, 1309.

When the monastery bought the Eclo farm, she contributed 20 marks to donate masses for her parents and the benefactors of Nottuln. Jutta was very interested mentally and artistically. Provost Wilhelm von Varlar wrote several choir books and translated hymns and psalms on her behalf. The strengths of Abbess Jutta of the same name lay less in the muse than in the political and legal field.

Jutta had an image of St. Elisabeth. This reflected the then flourishing veneration of the saints in the diocese of Münster. She stayed in office until her death and was inherited by Lisa von Katzenelnbogen in 1327 as abbess.
