The Jutulhogget ( Norwegian for the summit of the giants ) is a 2020 m high mountain with a steep-sided summit in the East Antarctic Queen Maud Land . It rises in the eastern foothills of the Mayr range in Gjelsvikfjella .
The first aerial photos of the mountain were taken during the German Antarctic Expedition in 1938/39 under the direction of polar explorer Alfred Ritscher . Norwegian cartographers, who also named the mountain, carried out a mapping based on aerial photographs and measurements by the Norwegian-British-Swedish Antarctic Expedition (1949–1952).
