The Jutulrøra ( Norwegian for giant tube is) a prominent mountain in the Antarctic Queen Maud Land . It rises 10 km west of the Straumsvola mountain in the western part of the Sverdrupfjella above the eastern flank of the Jutulstraumen glacier .
The first aerial photographs were taken during the German Antarctic Expedition in 1938/39 under the direction of polar explorer Alfred Ritscher . Norwegian cartographers gave it a descriptive name and mapped it on the basis of surveys and aerial photographs of the Norwegian-British-Swedish Antarctic Expedition (1949–1952) and aerial photographs of the Third Norwegian Antarctic Expedition (1956–1960).
