Károly Szilágyi

Károly Szilágyi (* 1943 in Cetariu , Transylvania ) is a Romanian opera singer ( baritone ).

Life

Károly Szilágyi, who had Hungarian ancestors, was born in a village northeast of Oradea . Szilágyi practiced another profession before starting his vocal training in 1972 at the Cluj Music Academy . During his studies he already took on solo roles in the ensemble of the Hungarian Opera House in Cluj ( Opera Maghiară ) and completed his training in 1977.

After his first engagements at the Musiktheater im Revier in Gelsenkirchen and at the Aalto-Theater in Essen , Szilágyi has appeared in the great roles of the Italian baritone at numerous stages in Germany and abroad and has given concerts in Budapest , Bucharest and the Royal Festival Hall in London . His guest appearances have taken him to the Deutsche Oper Berlin , the Bavarian State Opera , the Vienna State Opera , the Bonn Opera , the Deutsche Oper am Rhein , the Opéra Royal de Wallonie , the Zurich Opera House and the Teatro alla Scala .
