Furthermore, joint marketing and tourism measures are being implemented. The headquarters of the association is in Gnesau, but the residents and guests are brought closer to the strength of "wood" throughout the region through clearly identifiable symbols and signs made of wood and at the same time the affiliation of the communities to this region is successfully conveyed to the outside world.

Goal setting

Wooded region using the example of Glödnitztal

The following goals were set in the context of forest and wood :

  • Ecology and environmental protection : Cooperation between nature and landscape protection and the local farmers
  • Silviculture : Establishing and promoting near-natural, rural forest management within ecological and economic limits, training and further education or equipment for forest owners and foresters
  • Timber industry : initiation of an initiative for timber construction and the increased use of wood. Interesting wooden structures from the past are to be revitalized. Wood as a raw material and economic factor should once again become the basis of life in rural areas
  • Wood processing : In the context of wood processing companies ( sawmills , carpenters , carpenters , other businesses and wood handicrafts ), the material should be increasingly brought into the consciousness of the people. Through innovations, the product wood should be processedmore economically and rationally into semi-finished and finished products . By processing the wood into a high-quality end product, the desired added value is to be achieved and new, innovative jobs to be created to strengthen rural areas.
  • Tourism and tourism : starting with holidays in rural areas, there should be a revitalization of tourism.
  • A logo (an "H" with an arrow) was designed as an identity-creating feature, which can be found, among other things, as a meter-high wooden structure in prominent places in the member communities.

Wood museum

Rural architecture in Gnesau

The now closed wood museum in Weißenbach in the community of Gnesau made a contribution to the implementation of the wood road idea . Historical agricultural tools, but also those for woodworking and processing, as well as wooden appliances in the household were exhibited. Modern art in the form of inlays and pieces of furniture were also part of the exhibition.
