history

The barren area was originally mainly used by nomads and shepherds. Kénadsa is mentioned for the first time in the 15th century as a resting place for caravans of long-distance trade and it began to grow.

Coal deposits began to be developed in the area around 1900 , and the site became a center of mining when mining began in the 1920s . With the growing prosperity of the place, irrigation measures could be taken and agriculture expanded.

In the 1940s, coal mining gradually declined and there was a renewed focus on cattle breeding and agriculture.
