Cologne bard

Hans-Jürgen Jansen (born August 9, 1947 in Cologne ), known as Kölnbarde , is a dialect singer, composer and lyricist of Cologne prose and verse.

Life

Hans-Jürgen Jansen grew up in Cologne-Braunsfeld . After graduating from high school, he studied business administration in Cologne and became a tax consultant. He later moved to a leading position in the insurance industry.

In the early 1960s, Jansen gained his first experience as a singing band leader in local cover bands (Colors, Incrowed), mostly in English. Over the years, he returned to his linguistic roots, composing himself and writing texts in Kölsch . His focus is on preserving and spreading the local dialect . Under the pseudonym “Köln barde ” he appears today in the traditional Cologne tradition as a Krätzchensinger : as a soloist with self-written and composed ballads in Cologne dialect, accompanying himself with the guitar.

Jansen has composed and written around 200 songs and over 500 "Stöckelcher" (verses) so far. Of these, about 150 were published in “Levve un Laache en Kölle” and “Dem Kölnbarde sing Krätzcher”.

Jansen is active in the homeland association "Alt-Köln".
