history

The place name of this desert was mentioned several times in documents with an aristocratic family: 1128 "Viunoldus de Collstedte", 1297 "Bertoldus des Kulestede", 1320 "Hermannus des Kulstede", 1372 "Sifrid von Culstete", 1377 "Friedrich von Kulstedt", 1384 "Sivred von Culstete ", 1403" Ulrich von Kulstett "and 1506 still called" Kolstete "as a village.

This noble family gave the desolate village its name. It is also known that numerous settlements have fallen desolate in the area. This concentration of settlements south and west of the Hainleite is linked to the sporadic settlement of fishing and warning and changed natural and economic conditions. The settlements fell through the high number of hamlets and perhaps also through the Hessenweg , an old trade and military route. Today the Hessenweg is only an insignificant peaceful dirt road.
