Vito Cramarossa (born March 9, 1966 in Toronto , Ontario ) is a former Canadian ice hockey player who has played for the Toronto Marlboros in the Ontario Hockey League and Binghamton Whalers in the American Hockey League , among others . His sons Joseph and Michael are also professional ice hockey players.

Career

Vito Cramarossa mainly acted in the position of right winger and was initially active from 1982 to 1983 for the lower class Don Mills Flyers , before he went on the ice for the Toronto Marlboros in the Ontario Hockey League from the 1983/84 season . These had selected the Canadian, who had previously preferred to play in the center position, in 1983 at the OHL Priority Selection . In his debut season, the right-handed shooter achieved a total of 58 scorer points in 66 games during the regular season , and in the playoffs he contributed one goal in nine matches. Following this season Cramarossa was selected in the 1984 NHL Entry Draft in the sixth round in 122nd position by the Washington Capitals , for which he never ran. The Canadian, who never played in the National Hockey League , played three more seasons in the jersey of the Toronto Marlboros. Here Cramarossa acted as team captain in the 1985/86 season .

After he was eliminated with the Marlboros from the OHL playoffs, the right winger reinforced the Binghamton Whalers from the American Hockey League in the finals in 1986 . In his four missions, the Canadian remained pointless and punished. Since Cramarossa refused to play again the following season in the American Hockey League, he was sent to the Ontario Hockey League for another year. He completed the 1986/87 season as a so-called "Overage" junior with the Toronto Marlboros. After his early retirement, the striker initially worked as a coach of lower-class ice hockey teams before he supported the development system of the Markham Waxers from the Ontario Junior Hockey League .
