Joseph Cramarossa (* 26. October 1992 in Markham , Ontario ) is a Canadian ice hockey player who since November 2019 with the Chicago Blackhawks in the National Hockey League is under contract and in parallel with their farm team, the Rockford IceHogs of the American Hockey League on the position of the left winger . His father Vito Cramarossa was also a professional ice hockey player.

Career

Cramarossa played between 2008 and 2009 first in the Ontario Junior Hockey League with the Markham Waxers, from where he moved to the Mississauga St. Michael's Majors in the Ontario Hockey League via the OHL Priority Selection . The striker remained loyal to the franchise until January 2012 before he was transferred to league rivals Belleville Bulls . He played there until the summer of 2013.

After the wing attacker already in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft in the third round at the 65th position of the Anaheim Ducks of the National Hockey League was selected, it took that in March 2013 under contract and put him on the following September in their farm team , the Norfolk Admirals , one of the American Hockey League . There he spent the two seasons between 2013 and 2015, before the Ducks changed their cooperation partner and from then on he played for the San Diego Gulls in the same league. Cramarossa also started the 2016/17 season with the Gulls . After a weak start to the season in Anaheim, he was appointed to the NHL squad for the first time a little later and made his debut there. Ultimately, he established himself in their squad over the course of the season, before being sent back to the AHL via the waiver shortly before the trade deadline at the end of February 2017 . From there, the Vancouver Canucks picked him .

After becoming a free agent in the summer of 2017 , he couldn't find an NHL team to sign him before the start of the 2017/18 season . So the striker signed a contract with the Stockton Heat from the AHL. In February 2018, Cramarossa gave them to Wilkes-Barre / Scranton Penguins in exchange for Colin Smith . A year later, in February 2019, he received another NHL contract with their cooperation partner, the Pittsburgh Penguins . This was initially valid for the rest of the 2018/19 season, but was subsequently extended. In November 2019, however, he was given in exchange for Graham Knott to the Chicago Blackhawks , who also use him for the time being in the AHL at the Rockford IceHogs .
