City pottery Neumünster
The city pottery Neumünster is an artists' house in Neumünster in Schleswig-Holstein , the awards since 1987, working and recreation scholarships for outstanding international graduates in the field of artistic ceramics. The city pottery is located in the Fürsthof, a small street in the historic city center of Neumünster. The three-story brick building was built around 1900.
Artist in Residence
From 1986 to 2012, the Dr. Hans Hoch Foundation a two to three year living and working grant to an individual artist or an artist couple. The Künstlerhaus has been presenting itself with a new concept since 2013. Under the heading “Ceramic Artist in Residence ”, ten young, international ceramic artists are guests in the work, living and exhibition rooms for one month each year. Visitors can get to know the guest artists in the open studio of the city pottery as well as during presentations, workshops and interventions. The artist-in-residence scholarships are advertised annually; Applications come from all over the world. A jury of experts decides on the allocation of ten scholarship places.
Facility
The institution is run by Dr. Hans Hoch Foundation. The Sparkasse Südholstein Foundation has also been involved in the funding since 2007 . Further sponsors are the Wohnungsbau GmbH Neumünster and the Cultural Foundation of Schleswig-Holstein (2013–2016).
On the ground floor of the town pottery there is an exhibition room and a workshop with a gas and electric kiln. The grant holder's apartment is located on the first floor.
Foundation, endowment
In 1981 the Neumünster businessman Dr. Hans Hoch. He entrusted most of his fortune to his hometown of Neumünster. In his will, he decreed that his legacy should be transferred to a foundation named after him, whose surpluses are to be used to promote young artists as well as to support economically needy people, especially in institutions for elderly care and welfare. In 1987 Dr. Hans Hoch Foundation established, which maintains the Neumünster town pottery. She is advised by Johannes Gebhardt, who was then head of the ceramics course at the Kiel University of Applied Sciences (now Muthesius Kunsthochschule ). Graduates from art colleges and ceramic schools can apply for the living and work scholarship if they graduated no more than three years ago when they applied.

International Ceramic Symposium Neumünster
From August 30 to September 19, 2010, the Neumünster town pottery took place under the title “trans | formation ”the first international ceramic symposium in Neumünster took place as part of the Kunstflecken culture festival . The Art History Institute of the Christian-Albrechts-Universität zu Kiel and the Muthesius Kunsthochschule Kiel provided scientific support for the symposium. The works that were created during the symposium were shown in the Neumünster town pottery and then in the Gottorf Castle State Museum .
