Kürken is a 233 meter high elevation in the southwest of the city of Wuppertal in the Cronenberg district .

topology

The Wupper runs at the western foot of the mountain, which is part of the Staatsforst Burgholz nature reserve . On the left-hand side of the Wupper, the highway-like state road 74 (L 74) runs. In the north, the Kürken elevation is separated from the Neuenberg by the Weilandsiepens valley . In the south is the valley of the Herichhauser Bach . In the east lies the Wuppertal district of Cronenberg with the locality of Schwabhausen . The elevation is part of the natural spatial unit Burgholzberge (ordinal number 338.051).

Buildings

Except for the eastern area, the Neuenberg is undeveloped and largely forested. The forester's house of the state forest and the forest education center are located on the Kürken. The Burgholz Arboretum, with a focus on North American woody plants, is located on its summit .
