The kurchum river Crest ( Kazakh Күршім жотасы ; Russian Курчумский хребет Kurtschum Crest ; also Сары-тау ( Sary-tau )) is a ridge in Kazakhstan area Eastern Kazakhstan in southern Altai .

The Kürschim Ridge extends over a length of about 150 km in NNE-SSW direction. It runs between the course of the Kürschim in the north and the Kalguty and Qalschyr rivers in the south. In the east is the Markakol lake, in the northeast the mountain range merges into the Sarymsaqty . Its average altitude in the west is between 700 and 1000  m . In the east it rises to over 2500  m and reaches a maximum height of 3305  m in Aqsubas . The mountain range consists of metamorphic rock from the Paleozoic Era . In lower elevations, the mountain range has steep slopes and is covered by steppe vegetation. Larch forest grows on the northern slopes . Mountain tundra is predominant above an altitude of 2000  m .
