The Kılıçkaya Dam ( Turkish Kılıçkaya Barajı ) is located 25 km northeast of Suşehri in the northern Turkish province of Giresun on the middle reaches of the Kelkit Çayı .
The Kılıçkaya Dam was built by the state water authority DSİ in the years 1980-1990. Today it is operated by the state energy company Elektrik Üretim A.Ş. (EÜAŞ) operated. The dam serves as a water reservoir, as well as for generating energy and regulating runoff . The barrier structure of the dam is a stone embankment dam with a clay core . The dam is 103 m high, has a crown length of 405 m and has a volume of 6.8 million m³. The associated reservoir covers an area of 64.4 km² and has a storage volume of 1400 million m³. The reservoir extends over the provinces of Giresun and Sivas . The Kılıçkaya Dam hydropower plant has 2 Francis turbines of 62.5 megawatts each . The average annual energy production is 332 GWh. Downstream, below the Kılıçkaya Dam, is the Çamlıgöze Dam .
