Kōzō Hirao

Kōzō Hirao ( Japanese平 尾 浩 三, Hirao Kōzō ; * 1934 in Kobe ) is a Japanese German studies scholar and honorary professor at the University of Tokyo .

Hirao completed his bachelor's degree in 1957 from the University of Tokyo. After studying in Hamburg and Freiburg im Breisgau , he gained a professorship at the Chūō University , the University of Tokyo and the Keiō University in Japan.

In 2005, Hirao was awarded the First Class Cross of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany.
