The Carinthian Geographical Information System ( KAGIS ) sees itself as the GIS system of the state of Carinthia . It is subordinate to Department 8 ( Competence Center Environment, Water and Nature Conservation ), but is organized across departments in order to involve all state departments that deal with the procurement, maintenance or publication of geographical data. It was founded in 1991.

The services are currently being standardized as part of the EU Commission's INSPIRE initiative . For the public, the data is visualized in the Carinthia Atlas , among other things .
