history

On May 11, 1912, the association was founded in Mathäserbräu in Munich. He replaced two clubs that had dedicated themselves to the pure breeding of the Bavarian Mountain Dog. One was founded in 1899, the other in 1905. Gustav Volkmar led the club for 42 years from its inception and at the same time took on responsibility for keeping the records . The club endeavored to develop and maintain the breeding and testing system for the Bavarian Mountain Screeches.

In 1939, by order of Hermann Göring , the club was merged with that for the Hanoverian Bloodhound before all cynological events were banned in 1944 . In 1949 it was re-established. In 2004, the merger with the Bavarian Mountain Dogs Association (previously split off from this association) took place in 1994 . Thus, the Club for Bavarian Mountain Dogs, 1912, the only club in Germany, (because the only breeding association for the breed in VDH) pedigrees of FCI for the breed Bavarian Mountain Hound issues. Since Germany is the origin of the breed in the FCI, the German breed association is also responsible for the FCI breed standard (see dog breeds in the FCI system ).
