KF Trepça (officially Klubi Futbollistik Trepça Mitrovicë , Serbian Фудбалски клуб Трепча Митровица Fubalski klub Trepča Mitrovica ) is a football club based in Mitrovica in Kosovo . The club currently plays in the Liga e Parë , the second highest Kosovar league.

history

After the end of the Kosovo war in 1999, a group of Kosovar Albanians from the city of Kosovska Mitrovica founded an association called KF Trepça. This club took over or annexed the club logo, the club colors and the home stadium of the Yugoslav and Serbian club FK Trepča , which was founded in 1932.

Due to the consequences of the war, the city of Mitrovica has been divided into a city dominated by Kosovar Albanians and a Serbian population since 1999 . Since the Stadiumi Olympik Adem Jashari , the original home stadium of FK Trepča, was now in a district dominated by Albanians , the Serbian team was no longer possible or allowed to play in the home stadium. The KF Trepça took over the stadium and eventually gave it an Albanian name.

The Trepča Stadium has since been referred to by part of the Albanian population as Stadiumi Olympik Adem Jashari , after Adem Jashari, a co-founder and temporary leader of the Albanian paramilitary rebel organization UÇK , while the rest of the or non-Albanian population continues to call it by his name becomes.

Since its founding, the club had assumed the right to represent FK Trepča, which was, however, not recognized or rejected by UEFA because, among other things, FK Trepča is still an existing club and Kosovar football is from the football associations UEFA and FIFA has not yet been recognized. Nevertheless, the association gives the year 1932 as the founding date and continues to use the club logo of FK Trepča as in the time of Yugoslavia, only in Albanian spelling.

The club is now the Albanian-dominated club in the city, while the FK Trepča (Albanian name KF Trepça ), the Serbian-dominated club. There are two clubs in town with practically the same or similar name. The KF Trepça was champion in the Raiffeisen Superliga 2009/10 season . There is a rivalry with city rivals KF Trepça'89 and FC Prishtina .
