FK Trepča (full legal name to Serbian Фудбалски клуб Трепча Косовска Митровица Fubalski club Trepča Kosovska Mitrovica ), usually as Trepča known, the football department of Trepča Kosovska Mitrovica, a Serbian sports club based in Mitrovica .

Due to the consequences of the Kosovo war , the Kosovar Albanians of the city founded their own association in 1999 , the KF Trepça ( Albanian name for FK Trepča). So there were two clubs in town with practically the same name. In 2010, the local Serbian football club Partizan Kosovska Mitrovica in Trepča merged or went on.

Surname

The Trepča football club was named after the former industrial combine or mine Trepča northeast of Kosovska Mitrovica . The name itself is derived from the Serbian word trep or trepće , which means something like "flashes" or "something flashes". One of the team's nicknames is Trepčani , which means "Trepčaner", but can also be translated as "The Flashing One".

The Partizan Kosovska Mitrovica football club, which was dissolved in Trepča, was named in honor of the Yugoslav People's Liberation Army , a communist - military partisan formation that waged a guerrilla war against the fascist occupation of Yugoslavia by Nazi Germany and its allies Italy , Hungary and Croatia , which was under the Rule of the fascist Ustaša movement under Ante Pavelić stood, fought during the Second World War .

history

The association was founded in 1932 by Serbian workers from the Trepča mine in Kosovska Mitrovica under the name Fudbalski klub Trepča Kosovska Mitrovica in the Kingdom of Yugoslavia . From the year it was founded until 1938, the club did not have its own venue, so he trained and played on a field in the neighboring town of Zvečan . In 1938 a small playing field was finally built, where Trepča played its games until after the Second World War . Later they got their own venue, the Trepča Stadium in Kosovska Mitrovica, which offered around 30,000 spectators. At that time, the team consisted mainly of Yugoslav players of Serbian , but also Kosovar Albanian descent.

During the Second World War, the Kosovar Albanian players from the Trepča played in the Albanian football club "KF Skënderbeu" , which was active during the Second World War. After the end of the war, the club was overshadowed by numerous Yugoslav clubs for a long time . In 1977, however, followed the first major success for the club, which he rose to the first Yugoslav league . The promotion squad consisted mainly of Serbs , but also of Kosovar Albanians .

In the following season 1977/78, however, the club was the last to go back to the second division, but Trepča made it to the Yugoslav Cup final , where however NK Rijeka was narrowly defeated 0-1 after extra time. During this period the club became known by its nickname Rudari ( "The Miners" ), and the Trepča players Dragan Mutibarić, Dragan Simeunović and Vladan Radača were part of the squad of the Yugoslav national football team . Due to the consequences of the Kosovo war , the Kosovar Albanians of the city founded their own association in 1999 , the KF Trepça ( Albanian name for FK Trepča). So there were two clubs in town with practically the same name.

In 2010, Trepča merged with the local Serbian football club Partizan Kosovska Mitrovica, which was founded in 1954. In April 2013, Trepča played a friendly against the Serbian top club Partizan in the Serbian capital Belgrade . The game was played in the Teleoptik sports center, which they just lost 2: 3. Perica Ilić scored both goals for Trepča.

Stadion

From the founding year 1932 to 1938, the club did not have its own venue. They trained and played on a field in the neighboring town of Zvečan . In 1938 a small playing field was finally built, on which Trepča played its games until after the Second World War . The club later had its own stadium, the Trepča Stadium in Kosovska Mitrovica , which could seat around 30,000 spectators. They played their home games there until the outbreak of the Kosovo war.

After the war in 1999 the city was divided into a southern part with an almost exclusively Albanian population and a northern part with a predominantly Serbian population. During the war, numerous Serbs and non-Albanians fled to the northern part of the city or were expelled. This was followed on March 17, 2004 by the nationwide pogrom-like March riots against the Serbian and non-Albanian population on the part of extremist Albanians, which only increased the division of the city.

As the Trepča Stadium is located in the southern part of the city, it is not possible for the Serbian team to play in the home stadium. Currently, only Albanian teams play in the Trepča Stadium, including KF Trepça , who practically annexed the stadium and ultimately renamed it unilaterally. The Trepča Stadium is known by the Kosovar Albanian population as Stadiumi Olympik Adem Jashari , after Adem Jashari , a former leader of the Albanian paramilitary rebel organization UÇK , but still called the Trepča Stadium by the non-Albanian population. Both parts of the city are connected by two road bridges and a footbridge over the river Ibar . Like all cities in Kosovo, the city is guarded by KFOR troops. Due to the current difficult political situation, Trepča plays its home games in nearby Zvečan, in the 3500-seat Zvečan Stadium.

Club colors

The club colors of FK Trepča are green and black , which are also included in the city's coat of arms, and were also the colors before the merger or integration of Partizan Kosovska Mitrovica into the club. Before the two Serbian clubs merged, Partizan Kosovska Mitrovica's original club colors were black and white . The club was inspired by the Serbian top club Partizan Belgrade , whose main colors are also black and white. The club colors also included the colors red and blue . Partizan Kosovska Mitrovica's away jerseys wore these colors, which symbolized the main colors of the Serbian flag . It was or is similar with Partizan Belgrade.

Club sponsors

During the times of Yugoslavia , the Trepča mine was a financial supporter of the association. Dynamic Trade Zvečan , a local company, is a sponsor of the club for the 2012/13 season .
