While Cummul's second talk station KSFO mainly broadcasts US-wide talk shows, KGO mostly broadcasts local programs during the week. The local hosts Armstrong & Getty, Ronn Owens, Ethan Bearman, Brian Copeland, Chip Franklin and Pat Thurston moderated. The news is carried by Westwood One News / CNN .

Channel

As a clear channel station, KGO transmits with 50 kW, but uses directional antennas so as not to disturb WGY in Schenectady , New York. WGY also worked as a clear channel station on the east coast in single-frequency operation . KGO is heard throughout the western United States to the Rocky Mountains in the east. The signal is still being picked up in northern Mexico, western Canada and Alaska.

history

KGO went on the air in 1924 as a General Electric station . KGO was the flagship of the American Broadcasting Company (ABC) on the west coast until the network was incorporated into Citadel Broadcasting in 2007. In early 2016, Cumulus Media laid off more than a dozen employees from KGO Radio and its sister station KFOG 104.5 FM. This was justified with a planned realignment of the program. Almost the entire newsroom left the station. The owner converted the once important all-news station KGO into his second talk radio station in San Francisco.
