history

The association was founded on March 3, 1906. If wrestlers and weightlifters were initially active, other sports were offered in the following years. By 1933 the spectrum expanded to include boxing, acrobatics, athletics, building pyramids and stone throwing. The first individual titles were won in 1910 with the championship of Baden and the Palatinate. There were further successes at the Federal Festival in 1919 and the Workers' Olympiad in 1922.

In 1933 the club, which belonged to the Workers 'Athletes' Association, was banned and the athletes were forcibly incorporated into the unified sports association. By 1939 the wrestlers could win the Baden team championship four times. After the Second World War , the sports association was founded in Ketsch , including all the sports of the former clubs. After several wrestlers were able to achieve third places at the German championships in the 1950s, the strength athletes broke away from the sports association and in 1959 re-founded KSV Ketsch.

In 1973 the team rose to the state league and was able to start a year later after a restructuring of the leagues in the Baden Oberliga. In 1980 the team became champions without losing points, but then failed in the decisive battle for promotion to the 2nd Bundesliga at KSV Lahr-Kuhbach . In 1983 the KSV became champions again. The 2. Bundesliga could not be financially or athletically supported, so that one year later one had to return to the top division.

Until 1996 the team slipped into the national league before it went up again. In 1997 the KSV was champion of the association league and in 2000 unbeaten champion of the league, with which the promotion to the regional league of Baden-Württemberg was successful. By giving up a club from the 2nd Bundesliga, KSV was able to take its place in 2003. Already in the first year the first place and thus promotion to the 1st Bundesliga could be achieved, from which one only had to relegate one year later.

In the anniversary year 2006, the club fought again in the reorganized wrestling Bundesliga and was able to reach the second round in the 2006/07 season . In 2007/08 , she just managed to stay in seventh place. The following year, the team withdrew from the Bundesliga.

Well-known wrestlers who fought for Ketsch include the Vice European Champion of 2007, Marcel Ewald , as well as Stefan Kehrer and Heinz Marnette , who both won the first individual titles at the German Men's Championships for the KSV in 2006.
