Adolfo Suárez González was Prime Minister between 1976 and 1981

The Suárez II cabinet was a government in Spain that was formed on July 5, 1977 by Prime Minister Adolfo Suárez González of the Unión de Centro Democrático (UCD) and replaced the Suárez interim government . Previously, on June 15, 1977, the Constituent Assembly was elected.

From these elections, the UCD von Suarez emerged as the strongest force with 34.5 percent and provided 165 of the 350 MPs. The second strongest force was Felipe González's Partido Socialista Obrero Español (PSOE) , which received 29.2 percent and 103 seats, while the right-wing conservative Alianza Popular (AP) around the former Interior Minister Manuel Fraga Iribarne received 8.1 percent of the vote and was the third strongest force in the House of Representatives with 16 members. The Socialistes de Cataluyna (PSC-C) won 4.8 percent as the fourth strongest force and had 15 MPs. The Partido Comunista de España (PCE) by Santiago Carrillo was able to unite 6.3 percent of the vote and entered parliament with twelve members. On the Democratic Convergence of Catalonia (CDC) of Jordi Pujol accounted for 2.8 percent and eleven mandates.

The cabinet was presented in the Boletín Oficial del Estado on July 5, 1977. The government was reformed slightly on September 28, 1977 and February 11, 1978. According to the Boletín Oficial del Estado of February 11, 1977, Leopoldo Calvo-Sotelo became Minister without Portfolio for Relations with the European Communities (Ministro de Relaciones con las Comunidades Europeas, sin cartera) . In February 1978 there was an extensive restructuring of the cabinet, the composition of which was published on February 25, 1978 in the Boletín Oficial del Estado . On March 23, 1979, Rodolfo Martín Villa took over the office of Minister of Justice provisionally, replacing Landelino Lavilla . After the election of March 1, 1979, the Suárez III cabinet was formed on April 6, 1979 .
