As Cabinet Rajoy I refers to the 2011-2016 reigning Spanish government of Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy . It emerged after the parliamentary elections on November 20, 2011 , in which Rajoy's conservative People's Party ( PP ) won an absolute majority of the parliamentary seats. Rajoy therefore did not need to form a coalition government.
The members of the Rajoy cabinet were announced on December 21, 2011. There were a total of 13 ministries, two fewer than in the Zapatero II cabinet . The legislative period lasted four years as foreseen in the Spanish political system .
From December 20, 2015, the members of the cabinet were only executive in office. After the parliamentary elections in 2016 , the cabinet was replaced by the Rajoy II cabinet on October 31, 2016 .
