Stations, depot and vehicles

Kakhovskaya station

The Kakhovskaya Line has three stations:

The line's vehicles, type 81-717 / 714 and, since mid-2008, type 81-740 / 741, are provided by the Samoskvorezkoye depot , which also serves line 2.

history

Today's Kakhovskaya Line was established in 1969 as part of the Samoskvorezkaya Line . Since the opening of the section, trains have run continuously on this line from Rechnoi Voksal in the north to the new terminal station Kachowskaya in the south. In 1985, however, the Samoskvorezkaya Line was extended beyond the Kashirskaya station to densely populated residential areas in the south of the Russian capital. The new extension became the main line of the line, while the section to Kachowskaya from then on functioned as a branch that was served in alternation with the main line. It was not until 1995 that it was spun off as an independent line, due to the ever increasing number of passengers on the main route and the resulting need to increase the timetable there. On November 20, 1995, the turning and sidings north of Kashirskaya were put into operation, creating the "new" Kachowskaya line.

It is noteworthy that there is still some direct train service from the Kachowskaya to the Samoskvorezkaya line and vice versa even after the line has been spun off. The trains run around every 10 minutes in the morning from Warschawskaya to Rechnoi Voksal and in the evening the exact opposite route, which is due to the fact that some trains on the Samoskvorezkaya line at night in the Warschawskoye depot , which is located behind the Warschawskaya station, be turned off. In rarer cases, when the train sequence on the Kakhovskaya line has to be compressed, trains run continuously from Kachovskaya to Rechnoi Voksal and vice versa, as was customary in the years 1969 to 1995.

Expansion planning

There are long-term plans to build a large ring line for the Moscow Metro in addition to the existing Kolzewaja Line , in order to relieve the overground local traffic in outlying districts. Today's Kachowskaya Line is to become part of this line. The line is expected to be the first to continue from Kaschirskaja to Pechatniki with a connection to line 10 .

In connection with the construction of the ring line, the Kakhovskaya Line has been closed from October 26, 2019 until probably 2022.
