The Kalininskaja Line ( Russian Калининская линия ), also called "Line 8" or "the Yellow Line", is one of the twelve lines of the Moscow Metro .

Depot and vehicles

The line has its own depot for its vehicles, namely the Novogirejewo depot, which was opened when the line went into operation in 1979 . Its fleet consists of eight-car sets of the standard type 81-717 / 714 (this series has been used on the line since it opened) and - since 2012 - the newly developed type 81-760 / 761 . Between the two stations of the western section, which currently has no direct connection to the eastern section, a three-car set of type 81-740 / 741 Russitsch from the Izmailovo depot on the Arbatsko-Pokrovskaya line shuttled until the opening of three further stations in 2017 .

history

Marxistskaya station

The Kalininskaya Line was built in the 1970s and was one of the Moscow construction projects that advanced in the then Soviet capital in the run-up to the 1980 Olympic Games . The commissioning of the first construction phase took place a few months before the games, on December 30, 1979; this was the 11.4 km long route from Marxistskaja to Novogirejewo including the depot.

On February 17, 1982, there was an escalator accident in Aviamotornaya Station , in which, according to official information, eight people died.

On January 25, 1986, it was extended by 1.7 km to the west to Tretyakovskaya , where a new three-station interchange was created. An extension to the east up to the Moscow city limits took place with the opening of the station Nowokossino on 30 August 2012. Part of the outputs of this station is already on the territory of the adjoining Moscow city Reutov in the Moscow Oblast .

On 31 January 2014, a 3.4 km long isolated stretch was opened in the West, which the station Delowoi Central (transfer station Wystawotschnaja the Filyovskaya Line / Line 4) in the business district Moscow City with the Kutuzovsky Prospect located Victory Park of Arbatsko-Pokrovskaya Line (Line 3) connects. Construction began in 2011. From 2013, this section was initially extended from Park Pobedy in a south-westerly direction by three stations to 7.3 km. Operations to Ramenki began on March 16, 2017.

Expansion planning

The preliminary completion of the western section by extending it in a south-westerly direction by a further seven stations ( Michurinski Prospekt, Otschakowo, Terjoschkino, Solnzewo, Borowskoje Schosse, Nowoperedelkino and Rasskasowka ) and the construction of a depot near Solnzewo is planned for the end of 2017 / beginning of 2018. A further extension to Vnukowo Airport should come in 2020 at the earliest, and probably not until after 2025 (planning status 2015).

Closing the gap between the two sections of the line in the historic center of Moscow between Delovoi Zentr and Tretyakovskaya with the Dorogomilovskaya stations (with a transition to a Rossiyskaya station to be built on the Kolzewaya line / line 5 in the distant future), Pljuschtschicha (transition to the Smolenskaya station of the Arbatsko-Pokrowskaya Line / line 3) and Volkhonka (transition to the Kropotkinskaya station of the Sokolnicheskaya line / line 1) is also planned for 2020 at the earliest.

The western section is also sometimes referred to as the Solnzewskaya line , but was signposted as the Kalininskaya line as of 2014 . The entire route after the gap has been closed is to be called the Kalininsko-Solnzewskaya line and is sometimes already called that today.

In the planning phase of the section to Novokossino there were considerations of a further extension of the route in a south-easterly direction by four stations to the new residential area Koschuchowo. However, these were discarded in 2011; Instead, between 2012 and the end of 2016, a new, further south-running Koschukhovskaya line with eight stations is to be built, starting from the Aviamotornaya station of the Kalininskaya line and with a connection to the Lermontowski Prospekt station on the extended Tagansko-Krasnopresnenskaya that is yet to be built (planned for 2013) Line .
