Pansfelde is a district of the town of Falkenstein / Harz in the Harz district in Saxony-Anhalt .

geography

Pansfelde is located in the southeastern part of the Harz district and borders directly on the neighboring districts of Mansfeld-Südharz and Salzlandkreis on the heights of the Lower Harz Plateau, an agricultural plateau surrounded by forest. The landscape between the way stations Leinemühle and Gartenhaus, where road money was collected in earlier times , consists of mixed forests, fields and pastures in the Schwennecketal.

history

Pansfelde was first mentioned in a document in 1276 under the name "Pamesvelde". The history of the village and its inhabitants are closely linked to Falkenstein Castle. The ancestors of the 570 inhabitants today served in the castle, defended it, worked as agricultural and forest workers, in the mills and when hunting. After the Falkensteiner Counts died out in 1332, the place was initially desolate and was only repopulated in the 1540s at the instigation of the new local lord Johann VIII of the Asseburg.

On January 1, 2002, Pansfelde formed the new city of Falkenstein / Harz with the city of Ermsleben and five other places.

Attractions

The patronage church of St. Johannis , built from rubble stones, and the rectory, one of the few remaining half-timbered houses in the village, are listed as historical monuments. The former manor of the Falkensteiner counts defines the townscape. On the site of the former sheep farm there is a memorial stone that commemorates the events of the revolutionary year of 1848. In one complex there is a name plaque and a memorial in memory of the victims of the two world wars.

In addition, the Falkenstein Castle , the Alter Falkenstein Castle Stables , the legendary Klusberg, the Anhalt castle ruins as the ancestral seat of the Anhalter and the Degenershausen Landscape Park near Wieserode to the northeast are all worth seeing.
