history

Wieserode was first mentioned in 964 as Witserode . Before the place for county Falkenstein came, he needs 1,295 as Wedderode by de lantwer in Stammer's have been held. In 1437 it was mentioned in a document as Wedderode as a Falkenstenic village. In the Middle Ages it belonged to the Schwabengau, to the County of Falkenstein and spiritually to the Halberstädter Harzbann. In 1449 the Asseburgers acquired the place, which at that time was desolate . The resettlement took place in 1536 with 20 possessed men (20 families). One of them was Freimann, the tavern, the others were rear-seaters and the office was subject to interest and loan.

The compulsory labor to be performed was there: “On the hunt, the rear passengers are obliged to help free of charge. They have to peel off the hops, but they get a garb of bread and two cheeses and when they are all together, two legell full of edible beers. Their wives and servants have to shear the sheep, but receive 1 screw penny for each head. They have to carry letters, every mile for a Mariengroschen . The 6 housemates have to appear for manure loading, manure spreading, the harvesting banse and all sorts of emergency needs in the housekeeping. "

In 1928 the Degenershausen manor district , which had been independent until then, became part of the municipality.

Attractions

The Degenershausen landscape park and the old brickworks in Degenershausen are well worth seeing .

The old half-timbered village church , consecrated to an unknown saint, stands in the middle of the village. It is not known when it was built. Above the entrance, however, is the year 1617. The interior consists of a flat barrel ceiling and galleries on the north side and a two-storey one on the west side. The gallery balustrades are handcrafted with passion scenes on the west gallery and apostles on the north gallery (17th century). The altarpiece from 1615 with a three-part predella shows the Last Supper, the crucifixion group and the unbelieving Thomas . Above that is the late Gothic carved altar, which is painted on the back. The altar is crowned by an aedicula . The church tower has a half-timbered structure filled with a peasant dance .
