history

Neuplatendorf is one of the approximately 900 foundations that took place under Frederick II after the Silesian Wars . The aim of these new foundations was to revitalize old abandoned settlements. This also applied to the new Platendorf. The old settlement of Blattendorf was, however, a little further south in the Mukarenetal not far from Wieserode . This was still settled in 1339, but was abandoned before the Thirty Years' War . The new plateau village was created on the plateau on the road going from Magdeburg via Harzgerode and Aschersleben to Nordhausen. Each settler received a one-off settlement fee of 50 to 80 thalers. The timber was available free of charge from the border forest, which had to be cleared. For each house there were six acres of official or fiscal acre that became the property of the owner. Over the ownership of the local Ackers one was Erbzinsbrief issued. In 1774 the place was occupied by 60 families.

The church, built in 1781, is an unadorned half-timbered building with a turret. The interior with wooden hollow vaults and simple late baroque furnishings. The high altar is said to come from the Konradsburg chapel . The church was a branch of the church of Sinsleben (district of Ermsleben). An important trade was the manufacture of measuring instruments made of wood. The colonist and teacher Weber, who was a non-commissioned officer in the Prussian army, had introduced this craft.
