history
1980 by the ophthalmologist and science journalist Dr. med. Founded by Reinhard Kaden, Kaden Verlag is today the leading German-language specialist publisher in the field of ophthalmology . The management is in the hands of Reinhard Kaden and Katja Lorenz-Kaden. The ZPA - magazine for practical ophthalmology & advanced training for ophthalmologists (circulation: 5,000 copies), published by Kaden, is an advanced training medium aimed particularly at established ophthalmologists. In 1989 it was supplemented by the journal Ophthalmosurgery , which is primarily aimed at ophthalmologists working in surgery. The publishing house and the publishers have received several awards, most recently the German-speaking Society for Intraocular Lens Implantation , Interventional and Refractive Surgery (DGII) awarded Reinhard Kaden the 2019 Media Prize.
Publishing program
In addition to the ZPA and ophthalmic surgery , Kaden-Verlag also publishes the journal of the professional association of ophthalmologists in Germany with the title Der Augenarzt . An important German-language specialist journal for surgeons is the Chirurgische Allgemeine with a circulation of 7,200 copies. The publisher presents its own congress journals for major surgeon congresses. The journal Plastic Surgery is published for a surgical sub-specialty .
The book program also has a focus on the clinical subjects of ophthalmology and surgery as well as the biographies of important doctors. Kaden publishes the classic of plastic-reconstructive surgery, published in 1931, “Nose and other facial sculptures, together with an appendix on mammoplasty” by the German-Jewish surgeon Jacques Joseph as a facsimile. Also in the program is a historical appraisal of German surgery during the Nazi era . One of the standard works of ophthalmology, the 1600-page book ophthalmology , written by a team of authors led by Albert J. Augustin (Städtische Augenklinik Karlsruhe), was published in its fourth edition in 2019 for the first time by Kaden-Verlag. Other highlights of the book program include a differential diagnosis in ophthalmology published in 2018 and a history of ophthalmology in Dresden by Ronald D. Gerste and Lutz Pillunat.
