Kagal is a city in the Indian state of Maharashtra .
The city is part of the Kolhapur district . Kagal has the status of a Municipal Council . The city is divided into 19 wards . On the cut-off date of the 2011 census it had a total of 34,106 inhabitants, of which 17,634 were men and 16,472 women. Hindus form the largest group of the city's population with a share of approx. 86%, followed by Muslims with 11% and Jainas with approx. 2%. The literacy rate in 2011 was 85.11%.
