Kagrra, (also 神楽, , kagura, , note the spelling with commas) was a Japanese Visual-Kei band that existed from 1998 by 2010. Their concept followed Japanese traditions both in terms of music and appearance. The name kagura originally means god / divine place , but the band chose the characters to mean divine music .
history
Singer Isshi, guitarists Akiya and Shin, bassist Nao and drummer Izumi originally started their band project in 1998 under the name Crow . When they moved to PS Company in 2000, they changed their name to Kagrra. A sold out concert in the Takadanobaba AREA marked the beginning of her career.
Their first demo tape , Kotodama , was released on June 21, 2001, followed six months later by their first mini-album, Nue . The first one-man concert took place on March 3, 2001 in Shibuya On Air West , which was also sold out . Further concerts and publications followed on a monthly basis. At the TRIBAL ARVIALL WARNING !! At the concert the band was on stage with Due'le quartz and Ash . Kagrra's first tour took place in the fall of the same year.
After further publications and concerts, the first album with the title Gozen was released on December 11, 2002 , which in turn was followed by new singles.
In December 2003, Kagrra's last concert as an indie band took place, as the decision was made to go major on January 1, 2004 . With the change of label there was again a name change and Kagrra became Kagrra, (with comma). On this occasion, their first major single Urei and in March the album Miyako were released . A DVD followed in April with the recordings of their last concert as an indie band.
They ended 2005 with the Peace & Smile Carnival Tour , during which they worked with other bands and artists from their label such as The Gazette , Miyavi , Kra and alice nine. occurred.
In 2006 they were able to make their song Chikai no Tsuki the opening song for the anime series Kinnikuman II Yo Ultimate Muscle 2 . Since then, Kagrra's popularity has grown steadily, which is reflected in further publications as well as her international debut, which they gave in Los Angeles in May 2007 as part of the JRock Revolution Festival organized by Yoshiki . On December 29, 2007 they performed together with four other bands in Cologne and have now announced their first European tour for August 2008.
After a successful European tour, Kagrra returned to Japan for new studio recordings.
In 2010 the band celebrated their 10th birthday with a performance in Shibuya O-West, where two more singles are also announced. From the band, whose presence as a whole was not intended for a performance at the PS Company TRIBAL ARIVALL Vol. 100, bassist Nao takes part in the session band THE TOKYO HIGH BLACK.
In November 2010, the band announced their split. The band does not refer to their breakup as "separation", but as "death". According to Kagrra, this decision was made after long discussions. PS COMPANY promises to keep the fans up to date on the band members' further activities. Kagrra, will say goodbye to their fans with an album and a tour in the coming year.
